What inspired this collection? My love for chocolate is definitely the number 1 inspiration. I’ve seen gems at the studio that remind me of chocolate chips, or caramel chocolate, etc. so I thought it would be fun to do a whole collection inspired by chocolate! I’m hope that other chocolate lovers will see my collection and immediately think of chocolate.

Tell us about yourself! What do you do outside of Gem Studio? I’m a full time student at UVU studying Psychology and I dance with UVU’s Contemporary Dance Ensemble. I got married a few months ago and married life is the best! I love taking naps, making playlists, going on runs, yoga, trying recipes, traveling, and fashion. My dream is actually to own my own clothing boutique!

What are you most passionate about? Besides chocolate, I am really passionate about my philosophy that people should always be actively engaged in creating something, reading something, and learning something new. I think that’s one of the keys to success and happiness. Doing those three things throughout my life gives me motivation and constant inspiration for my future, and in doing that I feel like I always have a meaningful purpose! Also, I am passionate about wearing colorful clothes! I love color and I don’t think there can ever be too much of it!

What is currently playing on your Spotify? I’ve been in a huge throwback mood lately. My husband and I played our high school spotify playlists for each other, and I’ve had “Princess of China” by Coldplay and Rihanna on repeat for a few days now. I’m also loving the song “Notice Me” by Quinn XCII right now.

What’s your favorite kind of chocolate or chocolate bar? DARK CHOCOLATE. Literally anything dark chocolate I love. My husband has family in England, and they sent us English chocolate for Christmas, we are so lucky! I love Cadbury, Wispa, Flake, and Kinder Bueno Bars.

What is your favorite chocolate shop in Utah? Just add chocolate. I went there for the first time for my collection photoshoot. It was a great experience! They were so helpful and generous, and there are endless options for chocolate creations! I’m definitely taking my husband back there for a date.

What do you want to manifest in your life over the next year? I want to graduate in the Fall, first and foremost! I’d also love to take a trip to Hawaii, North Carolina, and Chicago, and maybe live abroad for a few months! I want to learn how to sew and take my husband to his first ever concert!

What is your favorite gem, and why? This is a hard question for me cause I just love purple so I want to say that amethyst is my favorite. But honestly, I think I’d have to say that Larimar and obsidian are my true number ones. And then amethyst comes in at a close 2nd place :)

What is your favorite part of the silversmithing process? My favorite part of the silversmithing process is burnishing. It took me a while to get it down well, but I think it makes such a big difference and it’s an exciting step because it’s basically the last thing you have to do! It’s so funny to me watching people’s reactions before and after burnishing, they are always so surprised at how much better it looks!

What's your favorite gem studio memory? I’ve been working here since May 2021, and already have so many happy memories! One of my favorites was the Gem Christmas Party in December. I loved making and receiving the secret santa rings and it was really heartwarming to hear all the sweet things the silversmiths had to say about each other. I’m convinced I have the best job and work with the best people ever!
