Tell us a little about yourself!
My name is Monet Montierth and I’m 18! I’m a senior in high school (Brighton High.) I have an obsession with butterflies, sunsets, thrift shopping, and RINGS!
At what age did you start making spoon rings?
I started about a year ago, so I was 17.
What or who inspired you to start making these rings?
My family (especially my dad) really inspired me. I also hated my old job sooo much and wanted to quit so bad, that it pushed me to work harder to create this business.
Do you make other jewelry pieces aside from rings?
Yes! I currently make cuff bracelets using silverware as well.
Give a brief explanation of what the process looks like when making a ring.
Here’s how it goes: polish, cut, file the end, bend, size, bend again, file again, polish, wash.
Do you have a favorite part of the ring-making process?
Honestly my favorite part is hunting for the silverware, before I even start making the rings. I think it’s one of my favorite things to do ever. Finding unique silverware I haven’t seen before makes me so excited!
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My biggest inspiration is my dad. He pushes me with my business and gives me the best, most wise advice. He’s my biggest supporter! My other inspiration is Tezza Barton. She is my idol! She’s so creative and unique and I love how well-rounded she is.
What other hobbies do you have?
I love to work out, rock climb, golf, play piano, and edit videos!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Married hopefully… with a couple kids! I see myself being an entrepreneur and a business owner. Whatever I’m doing, I will be passionate about it!
